Answer: REMS bone assessment is a screening tool for adults concerned about bone health and is not a replacement for diagnostic imaging ordered by a physician. Individuals currently under active treatment for osteoporosis should discuss REMS results with their treating physician. REMS results do not replace DEXA scans required for insurance-mandated treatment monitoring.

Answer: REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry) measures both bone density and bone quality using zero-radiation ultrasound. DEXA measures only bone mineral density using low-dose X-ray. REMS provides a Fragility Score and 5-year fracture risk prediction that DEXA does not offer, with same-day results at our Atlanta location.
